Gun Nuts on Tuesday: Choose your own adventure

For the show Tuesday night, we are currently without a topic as the guest I had planned on joining us backed out in a recent email - so what I'd like to do is let you choose the topic for Tuesday. Comments on this thread will be open, so post your ideas and wants/desires for the topic in the comments. Gun Nuts Radio is very much listener driven, so we want your feedback on shows and ideas for shows!

Reloading?

Choosing an EBR in these dire times of unavailability?

Home defense - choosing a weapon? The gunblogosphere has been alight on this topic.

Non-gun components of self-defense and situational awareness? Plenty of this going around recently as well.

Oh crap, I was eaten by a grue.

Anyway...

I'm not currently looking at the show archives for repeats, but an easy topic is myth-busting. Basically all you have to do is rip-off Tam's blog. She has a particularly good piece on ammo shortages.

That's one idea, and at least part of a show. There also seems to be renewed interest if physical conditioning and hand loading.

Personally, Caleb, I'd like to guilt you into reloading, but I guess Tam is the de facto CEO of PRRC?

Maybe you could also comment on some of the physical conditioning advice floating around. I might be doing it wrong, but I generally don't try to make strides in strength conditioning at the same time I'm working on losing weight with aerobic exercise. But I guess some people don't care about that or things like suitable diet, because they like to make it extra discouraging?

Why not interview some of the IDPA winners such as Max Michel. He is an interesting guy with a lot to say, and would be a good interview.

Go to the callers with the question: What's your favorite gun?
No prep, no late adjustments and the callers will get over some of their call-in drama.

On a related note, how about this: a batch of zombies has just surfed ashore on Katrina's storm surge. (OK, not literally, I just mean something insanely bad has upset our normal civic harmony.) What's your go-to long gun? What's your go-to sidearm? Tell us why you picked these.

On a completely unrelated note, referring back to Breda's "skinny-fat" blog post, what do you do to stay in shape? That is, in shape in general, and in shape for gun sports?

We actually would like to get some interviews with other competition shooters. We had Julie Goloski on recently, and we've got some top flight trainers coming up as well.

I have a topic suggestion that I suspect will raise quite a bit of discussion.

20 years ago I was convicted of a felony, non-violent, non-drug related. I am saving money for a pardon ($2500 for legal representation and assistance). I have an opportunity for a job change, but the change requires a security clearance. I may never get that clearance, but with a non-pardoned felony conviction, it is almost guaranteed the application will fail.

How do your listeners feel about a felon legally carrying? How do the listeners feel that a person who did a wrong, paid for the wrong doing and is still punished but that immature decision made so many years ago? Do the listeners support the 'Once a felon, always a felon' mind set? Or do they support the idea of a free and just society where a crime is committed, justice is satisfied with proceedings and sentencing, and then forgotten? Or are they somewhere in between? and if so, where and how do the justify thier opinion?

That's an interesting question, and I think it's one that we would definitely like to address.

"How do your listeners feel about a felon legally carrying?"Oh that's an easy one (to me). If you are not currently in prison, then you should be allowed weapons. If your criminal history makes you too dangerous with access to guns, then why are you out of prison?

I'd call in :-)

Could discuss everyone's line-in-the-sand for resisting tyranny.

I'd be happy to learn about reloading, since we're ginnin' u to commence to begin here at the Roseholme Ammo Conspiracy.

Another good topic would be how to run the Ebbil Black* Rifle you bought/built as a hedge against gummint wickedness. Tam's Shootin' Buddy spent a couple of hours getting me up to a minimal level of adequacy with my AR-15 (I assembled it!) and Dad's shotgun it is so very not.
