Gun Nuts: Camp Perry!

We had an excellent show last on Camp Perry, featuring Lars from NRABlog.com, Texas State Highpower Rifle champion Robert from Blackfork, and friend of the show Heath - who had the range facilities set up to let Breda shoot an M1 Carbine for the first time. You can check out all of last night's show here, or click here to download an .mp3 file of the Camp Perry show.

Next week's show is going to be great - we're continuing the $5 New Caller drive - for each new caller that's never called in before, I'm going to donate $5 to NRA-ILA to help our fight for our right to keep and bear arms. Next week's show is going to feature special guest Larry Correia, author of Monster Hunter International - which is currently screaming up the charts at Amazon.com.

As usual, the show is available on iTunes - you can subscribe going to the iTunes store and searching for "Gun Nuts Radio", or by following this link to subscribe to our raw RSS feed. Join us next week at 9pm Eastern time for a live review of the new Daniel Defense DDXV carbine, and to talk to Larry Correia, author of Monster Hunter International!

Gun Nuts: Nationwide Reciprocity

The floor vote on the National Right to Carry Amendment is today. Did you contact your Senators? Last night, on Gun Nuts Radio we talked about National Right to Carry and the various reasons why it's a good idea. If you click the link above, it will take you to the show page so you can hear the discussion on the National Right to Carry - and my personal lament as someone who has family in a state that doesn't honor my carry permit. To download a handy .mp3 copy of last night's show, click here.

After the discussion on Nationwide reciprocity, we moved on to a more lighthearted topic, which was "30 seconds with The President". If you had 30 seconds to give President Obama a piece of your mind, what would you say? You can check out people's responses by listening to the show from last night. As always, the show is available on iTunes so you can download, subscribe, and take Gun Nuts Radio with you wherever you go by following these handy instructions: Gun Nuts on iTunes. You can also go to the iTunes store, search for Gun Nuts Radio, and subscribe that way.

There is a chance that by next week we'll have our hands on the Daniel Defense DDXV carbine - if so, expect us to have an AR/EBR centered show next Tuesday!

Gun Nuts Tonight - interstate carry!

What would you tell our President if you had 30 seconds of his time? That's the question on tonight's Gun Nuts Radio, live at 9pm Eastern. When we open open up the phones tonight, we want to hear from the live listeners out there - what would you say in 30 seconds or less to our current sitting president? Would you remind him of his duties to the Constitution and his obligation to the nation, or would you ask him a hard question about his past? While most of us will never get that chance, tonight at 9pm Eastern time you will at least get to tell us. Join the show live by calling 347-539-5436 when we ask for callers to give our President 30 seconds of your mind!

In other topics, we're also going to cover the proposed amendment to the Defense Appropriations Bill that would grant reciprocity (interstate recognition) to holders of concealed carry permits. That means for the first time, my Indiana license would be honored in Washington, or any other state that issues permits to their residents. Needless to say, this is almost a hail-mary, but if you asked me even 3 years ago that we'd be talking about interstate right to carry legislation with a Democrat as President and Democrats controlling both Houses of Congress, I'd have said you were nuts.

If you want to listen to the show, then join us tonight at 9pm Eastern on www.blogtalkradio.com/gunnuts - your online home for the best in shooting sports and 2A news!

Gun Nuts Radio: Sotomayor loves the .50 BMG

What fun we had last night on Gun Nuts Radio! We opened the show talking about the Sotomayor confirmation hearings, and how when confronted with actual difficult questions about recusing herself, or her thoughts on incorporation, she kind of fell apart. Of course, the money quote from the entire thing was when she said she understands the right to keep and bear arms because her godson is in the NRA. Breda was quick to point out that saying that is exactly the same as saying "I'm not a racist, I have a black friend!" Plus, Sotomayor's lack of actual legal knowledge is kind of disturbing, but hey it's not like we expected Obama to nominate a conservative, right? I guess I did expect him to be a little less transparent in his pandering to the Latino vote, but that's what I get for hoping.

The show moved on, as it is wont to do, and if you'd like to download it you can click here for the show page. If you'd like an .mp3 copy, that is available here. The real highlight of the show was when we were joined by Michael Brendzel of Zel Custom Manufacturing, makers of the Tactilite .50 BMG AR upper. That's right, a .50 BMG upper for your AR15 pattern rifle, which readily converts your rifle from a tactical poodle-shooter into a single shot ultra-long range thumper. You can even have your upper with an 18 inch barrel, if you want to be able to fire the .50 BMG offhand...(although one wonders why). As Tam pointed out on last night's show, everyone should have a .50, because it's like a finger in the eye of the anti-gunners. The best part about the Tactilite upper is that exactly - it's an upper, so you can order it online and have it shipped straight to your house, no FFL. Trust me when I say that this makes Paul Helmke a sad, sad panda.

For more of the Gun Nuts goodness, check out the Twitter Feed, and also join our fan group on Facebook! As always, you can also subsribe to the show via iTunes, so if you're an iPhone user like Breda and I both are, you can have your Gun Nuts with you at all times. Don't forget to listen live, Tuesdays at 9pm Eastern time!

Gun Nuts Radio: Big fifties!

That's right guys and girls, tonight's Gun Nuts Radio is all about the .50 BMG! Live as usual at 9pm Eastern time, tonight's show will include special guest Michael Brendzel of Zel Custom Manufacturing, makers of the new Tactilite AR15 upper in .50 BMG.

Breda and I will also be covering the usual gun related news and blogger info tonight, so don't miss the show. We go live at 9pm Eastern time, and you can join the podcast by visiting www.blogtalkradio.com/gunnuts - it's where all the action happens!

Gun Nuts: down with the man!

While normally we don't do "down with government shows", last night's show came about as close to that topic as you're going to see from Gun Nuts Radio. The first half of the show consisted of our new and popular current events roundup, covering news items such as Steve McNair's murder at the hands of his girlfriend/mistress, the Harold Fish case, and even a little Michael Jackson. We then moved on to the last segment, which was asking people what laws they'd like to change, or modify in the hopes of helping to correct our republic. If you'd like to download an .mp3 of the show, click here for the file.

Here are some of the ideas for changing laws that I really liked:

  1. Get rid of ticky-tac felonies (shipping wine to Indiana is a felony, for example)

  2. Repeal the direct election of Senators - honestly, if Al Franken can get to be a senator, the position has officially lost ALL its prestige

  3. Income taxes? Get rid of 'em. It seems the .gov doesn't get that much money off them anyway, so let's just give it back to the people who earned it.

  4. Massachusetts' approved firearms list - toss it.

  5. And finally, Joe Huffman's idea: change the definition of treason so that it includes passing a law that violates the Constitution.

If you missed the live show, you missed Breda's Kalashnikitty t-shirt, which is just a real bummer for you, and you also missed the rowdiness that is the chat room. Of course, you can click here to download the show, but it's not quite the same. You may have heard that Breda has an iPhone now as well...if you want to subscribe to Gun Nuts Radio on your iTunes, just follow the directions in the link, or search for us at the iTunes Store under "Gun Nuts Radio".

One more item - if you're a Facebook user, you should join the Fans of Gun Nuts Group on Facebook. As of this morning, we're just shy of 500 members, and I'd like to see that number over a 1,000 before next week's show. Tell a friend, tell your mom, but tell someone you know about Gun Nuts Radio!

America: F*** yeah on Gun Nuts Radio

It was all about America, with a dose of lawn care, listener mail, and some good old fashioned humor thrown it. As usual, I very much enjoyed doing last night's show, as it gave me an opportunity to hear from you guys why exactly you're still proud to be an American, even in times like these. Because make no mistake, I am proud to be an American, and I'm proud of my American heritage. To hear what other folks said about how kickass the USA is, click here for the show page. If you'd like to download the .mp3 file of the show, click this link for a downloadable version.

I was a little surprised how long it took people to start calling in though - last week when we asked you to complain about the feds, the response was instant and overwhelming. Then last night, we said "yeah, our government sucks right now, but what do you think is awesome about America", I had to browbeat ya'll into calling in. To everyone who called in, thank you. To the people reading this that have never called in (and there are a lot of you), give it a try! We'd love to have you join us live even for just a few minutes. The ability to connect with out listeners is what makes the show such a joy for both of us.

Here are some of the best answers as to why America is still awesome:

  1. The 2nd Amendment

  2. American Individual Ingenuity

  3. Freedom to say government sucks

  4. "The Next Election"

  5. And many many great examples

I think one of my personal favorites was that one our listeners pointed out we'd had a contested election in 2000, and a hotly contested race in 2008, and yet it was pretty much "business as usual". In other countries, these sorts of things often turn themselves to shooting wars, but here we just held out collective stuff together and went on with life.

I think if I were going to summarize last night's show in three words, it would be pretty simple: America...fuck yeah.
